How long have you been at the company?
I have been with Century 21 for over three years since 2009.
How long have you been a realtor?
I was licensed in the past with the Ontario real estate association (OREA, TREB). I have been licensed with the Alberta real estate association (&ldquoAREA&rdquo) and also the Calgary real estate board (CREB) for over three years since 2009.
Why did you become a realtor?
My family had a tremendous influence on me as a child. Many of my family members are tradesmen, like business owners, property investors and renovators, etc. I was keen on real estate and homes from a very young age also me and my father build our home when I was 12 years old.
Several years ago I was deciding on a new career path and many of my friends and clients were and still are professionals such as Realtors, Mortgage Specialists and Bank Representatives. Most of my friends thought I would do well as a Realtor and it would be a good fit for me as a permanent career path. I was already a very successful and well-rounded sales associate, equipped with a range of skills including marketing, communication, negotiation tactics, phone etiquette and so on. These previous skills and my burning desire to do well allowed me to transition smoothly into real estate.
I take great pride in working with many different people and fulfilling their needs and wants while simultaneously creating a career that is very rewarding on multiple levels.
What did you do prior to becoming a realtor?
I have a tremendous passion for a healthy life style and for fitness. My first career was as a fitness trainer for one of the fastest growing chains and best-managed fitness clubs in Toronto, &ldquoExtreme Fitness&rdquo. Shortly after I started my position with Extreme Fitness I was ranked as the #1 fitness trainer for 2003 and 2004 within the organization. 12 years ago, I was a fitness trainer and worked my way up becoming the Fitness manger and then onto becoming the General Manager for various Extreme Fitness clubs. My responsibilities involved were overseeing all operations of the club and my specialties as a General Manager was in sales, marketing, and team development.
As I was considering real estate for a new career in Toronto I worked for various builders as well as Milborne Realty, &ldquoone of the world&rsquos most established condominium marketers&rdquo. In Toronto I was an unlicensed sales associate promoting and selling condominium projects and units from start to finish.
Shortly after I made a decision and became a licensed realtor I moved to Calgary. As I was waiting to transfer my license to Alberta I worked with Cochrane Dodge and Sports Club. I enjoyed my experience working with both companies, as they are both well-managed productive organizations with a clear vision serving Calgarians and Calgary&rsquos various communities.
Where did you come from and what made you decide to move to Calgary?
My family moved to Toronto, Canada just before the millennium new year, I was only 19 at the time, it was a joint family idea to initially move to Calgary. I took action and arrived in Calgary during the boom to apply my success as a new realtor in town. Unfortunately, by the time I was able to transfer my license the booming days were gone.
Calgary is my new home, which I love in many ways and intend to live here for the rest of my life. I fell in love with the natural surroundings that Calgary as to offer and being very health conscious, I really loved the fact that most Calgarians care about their health and live a healthy life style. I also fell in love with Calgary because in my opinion, most Calgarians are very welcoming and considerate with a warm smile and an open heart. The people here are great and that was one of the main reasons to stay in Calgary. I am also a Flames fanatic and I love to cheer for the Flames over any other team or city. &ldquoGo Flames Go!&rdquo
Are you a member of any associations (professional, personal or volunteer)? If so, which ones?
I am professionally a member of the Calgary real estate board (CREB _ AREA), and also a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). As a result of my new designations I have various memberships with REBAC such as being a Senior Real Estate Specialist , Accredited Buyer Representative and e-PRO®
I personally; love to exercise and keep fit so I am a member of various fitness and sports clubs such as the World Health, Edgemont Club.
Tell us a bit about your family &ndash any pets &ndash and your background -- any hobbies &ndash favorite sports teams&mdashetc
I have been married to my beautiful wife Soheila for 3 years now; interestingly I married Soheila and started my real estate career virtually at the same time, lots of good change! My wife has been very understanding and supportive of me during these initial and crucial years.
A great quote that comes to mind that applies to marriage and to real estate is a quote by Darryl Davis, &ldquoYou see, real estate is like a marriage. You don&rsquot walk down the aisle, say,&rdquoI do,&rdquo close your eyes, and hope it will work out for the next 50 years. Rather, you must wake up each morning and recommit to making your relationship work. That&rsquos right: there is actually work to be done.&rdquo
I have a very hard working and educated family, my father was an engineer for oil companies for over 20 years and he retired early so he could pursue other avenues. My father and mother jointly own and operate many cafés within the TELUS convention centre by the Glenbow museum &ldquoGreat café &ldquo. My parents are in the process of opening Riverview Beauty salon in Cochrane. One of my brothers Ehsan is studying Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta while his twin Omid is an international business graduate from Seneca College, and currently operates &ldquoYou and Yours Painting&ldquo.
Are you and/or your company involved in any community initiatives?
First and foremost I volunteer and support the CREB Charitable foundation, I also support Amnesty International. In the near future I plan to be more involved with the Canadian Cancer Society&rsquos Calgary fundraising events as well as local community events. My family and I we support unicef Canada and Century 21 supports and promotes the Easter Seals.
Have you received any awards (professional, personal)
I was one of the top 20 realtors for 2010 at my old office &ldquoCentury 21 the Professionals&rdquo. I am striving to be in the top 20 producing realtors at my new office, Century 21 Bamber Realty Ltd. but competition is furious. I am being pushed to work harder and more efficiently in order to accomplish my initial goals of consistently ranking in the top 20 yearly. Considering 75% of realtors do not make it past their 2nd or 3rd year, I feel ahead of the game. I have the resources and skills to be a strong contender in the Calgary real estate market and I intend to fulfill my goals and set new goals moving forward.
My office has received the Grand Centurion award from 1989 &ndash 2010. Also, my brokerage received franchisee of the year for 2009 within the Century 21 Canada organization. Just recently, Century 21 Bamber Realty Ltd. Ranked 3rd for production and ranked 4th in units in all of Canada within Century 21 Canada. I am proud of it, and a special thanks to all of our clients in helping us achieve this pinnacle in the history of Century 21 Bamber Realty.

I will continue to educate myself to stay current and competitive.
Favorite hobby? Favorite sports teams&mdashetc
My favorite hobbies include daily exercise, hiking, biking, camping, card games from time to time, and of course, the real estate industry. My favorite sports teams are the Calgary Flames. I am also a fan of the Stampeders, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Toronto Raptors. I enjoy European and Spanish football leagues with a special devotion to Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona.
I love to learn new languages and interact with different cultures. I speak Farsi and English and have a passion for Chinese, and any spare moment of time I have, I am learning new words in Chinese.
What is the single thing you are most proud of about your career?
I am dependent on my clients and therefore client satisfaction is on the top of my list of what I am most proud of. I see real estate as a relationship building business and I enjoy this process. I protect my client&rsquos interests in each transaction and provide a professional and superior service through honesty, integrity and knowledge.
I am constantly amazed at how much I learn and grow with every real estate transaction I make and I love it! I love the whole process and how it is never the same. Every transaction has a different set of criteria, which always makes it fresh and exciting for me.
Because of the ever-changing nature of the business I may not know the answer to every question or situation that arises but I do have a broad network of experts at my fingertips who can help me in any situation. I remain as committed as ever to giving my clients the quality service they deserve and need. Keeping my clients satisfied with my services and happy with their home is very rewarding, I am proud to be a great real estate resource!
Is there an area of the city or price range you specialize in?
In the past , I have placed my emphasis and focus mainly in the North West of Calgary. However, I have bought and sold properties within each corner of our city as well as Airdrie and Cochrane.
As a certified condominium specialist, especially considering my background of selling condos downtown Toronto for builders, I have a great understanding of Condo & Town Home sales. There are many factors that a buyer or a seller should consider when purchasing or selling a condo or townhouse. Majority of these considerations are not required on detached homes such as Reserve Funds, Condo Management, Special Assessment, Restrictive Covenants and much more, I intend in becoming a recognized and trusted name within the Calgary Condo Market.
Since I am in the process of building my client base compared to some well-established realtors, I pay special attention to each of my client&rsquos needs and wants. I listen to what they have to say and I have a clear understanding of what is expected of me. I stand to deliver measurable results; I provide my client a detailed weekly and daily progress report. I can confidently say that my list to sold price ratio and my average days on the market is better than typical market projections according to CREB stats, as well as my clients. I work efficient and effective when I market a client&rsquos home and I have a step-by-step agenda that I follow. I always protect my client&rsquos interests when negotiating, I treat every client with the highest regard, and I focus on building long lasting relationships.
As an accredited buyer&rsquos representative, I present all options suited to a client&rsquos needs and wants and guide my clients through each available and suitable option. I take note and gather as much information of what my clients like or dislike, preview homes for my clients, and then provide them with various stats including observation rates, a comparative market analysis to establish the price, negotiation tactics and more. I find exactly what my clients are looking for, in my opinion &ldquoYou Don&rsquot Make Money When You Sell Real Estate, You Make Money When You BUY it!&rdquo It&rsquos very important how well you buy because that could establish if it&rsquos likely to make a profit down the road!
Another area of interest of mine is in million dollar properties. I have bought a few million-dollar properties in the last few years for clients, and currently have 3 water front properties coming up for sale, making my areas of expertise in the real estate industry very well rounded.
Do you have a favorite story about a client or property you could share?
I have many. One of my favorite stories about a client happened a few years ago. I was just getting my foot in the door in Calgary&rsquos real estate and I was working open houses on weekends for one of my co-workers. After 2 consecutive months of working open houses in a particular new home in the Parkdale Community I noticed I had a regular coming every single weekend. As I befriended my regular, I found out his name was Victor Choy and I humorously said &ldquoVictor! My open house is never complete without your presence, how about you buy this house so we both can move on to the next project!&rdquo. To my surprise Victor took that offer and ended up purchasing that home! Through the negotiation process I was able to help save Victor over $200,000 from the original asking price. According to Victor, the reason he decided to buy the home trough me despite all of his connections, was my persistence and punctuality of being there weekend after weekend and my belief for the product I was selling. I greatly appreciate the trust and confidence he bestowed in me to serve him with the purchase of his home and I continue to have a good working relationship with him.
